The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) yesterday urged the government to allow active Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) and reduce VAT on network devices to make internet services cheaper for people. end users.

He said that due to the high VAT imposed on small devices including routers, modems and cables, internet is not affordable for many despite the country making progress in the digital switchover.

“The cost of internet is all the higher because active internet sharing, a very efficient distribution system, is not allowed in the country,” said Syed Almas Kabir, Director of FBCCI and Director in charge of the committee. .

ICS is a Windows service that allows a computer connected to the Internet to share its Internet connection with other computers on a local area network (LAN).

While internet infrastructure is being built to reach all parts of the country, an immediate reduction in VAT on internet supply equipment and the authorization of active sharing of burial networks are essential to provide internet to prices affordable to people across the country, Kabir said.
