J’Neil Bennett scored his first professional goal and played a key role in another as he played for Crewe Alexandra in their 2-0 home win over Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon.
After impressing on his debut against Shrewsbury Town, J’Neil saw his 10e-minute center diverted to the back of the net by Burton’s Michael Bostwick to open the scoring. Then, with three minutes remaining and the visitors chasing the game, the winger grabbed the Brewers on the counter, stepping into the box before cutting and piercing a low shot under the keeper. He completed the full 90 minutes for the Alex and was named to the Sky Bet League One Team of the Week.
Cameron Carter-Vickers is another player who recently opened his account for his respective loan team. After Celtic’s 3-0 victory over Ross County in the Scottish Premiership on September 11, Cameron opened the scoring with a large deflection.
Recovering the ball just inside the Staggies’ half of the field, the defender headed for the goal before trying his luck from 30 yards. His low workout pulled on Jordan Tillson County’s heel, looped over the goalie and into the back of the net. Albian Ajeti then scored a brace to wrap up the victory. Cameron has played two more games for the Bhoys since, completing the 90 minutes in both.
